Stretch Your Dies – Star Framelits Technique #2

Stretch Your Dies – Star Framelits Technique #2

Last week I shared with you a fun way to use your Star Framelit dies by using the inlay technique.  Today we’re going to use the same Star Framelits but this time we’re creating a star impression on our cardstock. You will notice I keep the design the same from last week’s project and just changed my technique.  This is one way to get more out of your supplies, you don’t need to have a whole new idea, sometime just changing one or two things creates a different look to your project.

Tricks & Tips

  • If you don’t have a silicon mat, try using a mouse pad or similar
  • Place a small amount of liquid glue to a plastic sheet or acrylic block, this makes it easier to add glue to your sequins before placing them on your project.

The Star Framelits are  fabulous! I love it when I can come up with more than one way to use my supplies. For today’s card, I created an inlay background and added a sentiment formed with the Sunshine Wishes Framelits and Crazy About You Stamp Set.  The tiny stars are from the Confetti Stars Border Punch

Tricks & Tips

  • Change up the colour of your star by creating a rainbow of colour or even a gradient of colour will look great also
  • Glue multiple layers of die cut greeting to add height and dimension to your card

I’ve created a video tutorial showing how easy it is to do this techniques.  Watch below

Come back next week, where I will share with you another idea on how you can Stretch Your Dies – Star Framelits.

Gradient Sponged Background

Gradient Sponged Background

Well… I had lost my crafty mojo. To get it back, I decided to dive in and make a lot of different cards using the same technique, Gradient Sponged Background and embossing folders and it worked!

I don’t normally make a lot of cards at once but  I got carried away. It was kinda of my “healing” from a long struggle of not creating much. I feel so much better! I hope these cards show you that you can take products you have and put them to good use to make a bunch of cards… all with a simple card design.

I have details on what products I used on each card below. On all of my cards I used the super-cool Hexagons Dynamic Textured Impressions Embossing Folder.

OK, here the colours I used on each card:

Love Card:  Melon Mambo, Rose Red, Rich Razzleberry

Gradient sponged Background

Congrats Card: Pumpkin Pie, Daffodil Delight

Gradient sponged Background

Happy Card: Night of Navy, Dapper Denim, Island Indigo

Gradient sponged Background

Hello Card: Cucumber Crush, Bermuda Bay, Island Indigo

Gradient sponged Background

Tricks & Tips

  • Use washi tape or painters tape to get the nice even border around your project
  • If your tape is too sticky wipe your embossing buddy over it to make it less tacky
  • Start sponging off the cardstock and gradually apply colour in a circular motion

View the video below, to see how easy it is to use this technique.
