Pleated Paper

Watch as I share this fun pleated paper technique! It’s a great way  add dimension and draw attention to a simple focal point—and it’s so easy to do! You could also try this with the many beautiful patterned papers available… just think of the possibilities!

Tips & Tricks to Note

    • Use a scoring board to create your pleated panel or, if you don’t have a scoring board, use a paper trimmer and a bone folder or stylus.
    • If you want your pleats to be taller and have more dimension, score at 1/4″ or, if you want them to lay flatter, score at 1/8″.

Directions

        1. Score a 21 x 15cm piece of Whisper White CS in half, with a bone folder to create a 15 x 10.5cm cardbase.  Set aside
        2. Score a 6″ x 5 7/8″ (15.2 x 15cm) piece of Real Red CS using a scoring tool at 1/4″, 3/4″, 1 1/2″, 1 3/4″, 2 1/4″, 2 1/2″, 3 1/2″, 3 3/4″, 4 1/2″, 4 3/4″, 5″, 5 1/2″, 5 3/4″.
        3. Trim the last pieces of each side using paper snips
        4. Crease along the score lines.  Start by folding at the 2 1/2″ mark by folding it back  and then accordion fold the remaining score lines, repeat on the other side
        5. Apply Sticky Strip to the back of the Real Red CS along the sides and Stampin’ Dimensional down the center 3 high.
        6. Starting with one side of the pleated panel adhere the 1/2″ wide strip to the 3″ x 5 7/8″ (7.7 x 15cm) piece of Basic Black CS leaving a slight boarder
        7. Adhere the other side of the pleated panel to the Basic Black CS mat leaving a slight boarder, so the center of the pleated panel is loose (popped up). Press down in the center of the pleated panel to adhere it to the mat using Stampin’ Dimentionals 3 high.
        8. Adhere the matted pleated panel to the center  of the Whisper White cardbase
        9. Punch a Heart from Silver Glimmer paper using Sweetheart punch and adhere to the center of the pleated panel using Stampin’ Dimentionals
        10. Stamp your greeting from Itty Bitty Banners on scrap piece of Whisper White CS, and cut out using a big shot and Bitty Banners Framelits
        11. Adhere just below low the Silver Glimmer Heart using stampin’ dimentionals.  You’re done!

Papillon Potpourri

I’ve just completed Team Challenge #7.  It’s been a while since I participated in our team challenges but I needed to get back into it.  Todays challenge is a sketch using colours Soft Suede, Gumball Green, Pink Pirouette and Whisper White.

Here’s how I made my Card

  1. Fold the 5 3/4″ x 11 1/2″ (14.5 x 29cm) Whisper White CS in half to create a 5 3/4″ x 5 3/4″ (14.5 x 14.5cm) cardbase
  2. Cut 5 1/2″ x 5 1/2″ piece of Pink Pirouette designer paper from Subtles Colour Collection Designer Paper, Centre and stick to the front of your Whisper White Cardbase
  3. Cut a 5 1/4″ x 2 1/2″ Whisper White piece and punch one edge using your Scallop Boarder Punch.  Sponge the edges with Soft Suede Classic Ink
  4. Stamp the butterfly image from Papillon Potpourri Stamp set onto scrap piece of Whisper White CS, in soft suede, gumball green and pink pirouette classic ink.  punch out with the Elegant Butterfly Punch
  5. Stamp your greeting from Itty Bitty Birthday in Soft Suede ink onto a Scrap of Whisper White CS and cut out with Bitty Banner Framelits and Bigshot, set aside
  6. Stick you butterfly’s onto the scalloped boarder piece of Whisper White CS with Stampin’ Dimensional.  Place the first butterfly (Pink Pirouette) in the centre and then stick the gumball green butterfly approx 1/2″ above the pink pirouette butterfly and the soft suede approx 1/2″ below the pink pirouette butterfly.
  7. Mat 2 2/8″ x 5 1/4″ piece of Gumball Green Designer paper from Epic Day this and That Designer paper onto a 2 1/4″ x 5 1/2″ piece of Gumball Green CS
  8. Wrap a 6″ piece of Organza Ribbon around the Gumball Green mat stick the end at the back with snail adhesive
  9. Stick the Gumball Green mat to the Card base approx 1″ from the bottom
  10. piece a hole at one end of your greeting and thread 4″ piece of Twine , tie around the organza ribbon into a knot, trimming the ends
  11. Stick your butterfly Whisper White mat approx 1/2″ from the left edge of the cardbase as show in the picture below with stampin’ dimensionals
  12. tie 10″ piece of Organza Ribbon into a bow and stick over the thread tied Organza ribbon with a glue gun.  You’re Done!

Make a Cake

One of my team members has started a challenge “Hallmark Challenge”  you can read all about it HERE.  Here’s my card I created.

Make a Cake, Itty Bitty Banners

Here’s how I created my Card:

  1. Fold the 8 1/2″ x 5 6/8″ (21 x 15cm) Crisp Cantaloupe CS in half with a bone folder to create a 5 6/8″ x 4 1/8″ (15 x 10.5cm) cardbase.
  2. Emboss the front panel of your card front with the Decorative Dots Embossing Folder and your Big Shot and set aside
  3. Stamp the cake base image from Make a Cake Stamp Set to your 2″ x 5″ (5 x 13cm) Whisper White CS approx 2″ (3cm) from the bottom of the CS in  Black stazon ink
  4. Using a Stamp-a-ma-jig stamp the top layer of the cake above the bottom layer with Black Stazon ink
  5. Stamp it again onto scrap piece of Pistachio Pudding CS, cut around the outside with paper snips.
  6. Stick the Pistachio Pudding stamped image to the middle layer of the cake with snail adhesive
  7. Punch the top portion of the Whisper White CS with the Scallop Tag topper Punch.
  8. Pierce holes around the edge of your tag with a paper-piercing tool, and the Essentials Paper-Piercing Pack, you will need to use free hand for around the top of the tag.
  9. Centre and stick your Whisper White Tag to your  2 1/2″ x 5 1/2″ piece of Crisp Cantaloupe CS, with your paper snips cut around the top leave a 1/4″ boarder to match your tag top
  10. Stamp 4 hearts (2 x strawberry slush, 1 x pool Party, 1 x summer Starfruit) from the Make a Cake Stamp Set onto a scrap piece of whisper white CS, cut out with paper snips and stick them to the card as shown with 2-way glue pen.
  11. Thread approx 3″ (5cm) Pistachio Pudding Ruffle Stretch Trim through the hole at the top of your tag topper, stick down the back with sticky tape, trim the ends as needed
  12. stick approx 4 1/2″ (11cm) Delicate Details Lace Tape to the back of the Crisp Cantaloupe Tag, enough that you can only see half the lace pop out.
  13. Stick the tag down to your card front with Stampin’ Dimentionals to the left of your card front
  14. Stamp your greeting from Itty Bitty Banners stamp set onto a scrap piece of Whisper White CS, die cut with Bitty Banners Framelit dies with Magnetic Platform and Big Shot
  15. Add Rhinestone basic Jewels to each side and stick at the bottom of your cardbase with stampin dimentionals on the right hand end, and snail adhesive on the left.  You’re Done!
