Make a Card Monday #3

Make a Card Monday #3

Welcome to this weeks Make a Card Monday feature.  I thought I would combined this weeks MACM with our team Creative Challenge.

Our challenge this week is to create a project using a stamp set we’ve either

  • Haven’t used in a while, or
  • Have never used

I’ve chosen to use  the Garden in Bloom Stamp Set.  This set has been sitting on my shelf for over 12 months, and never used. gasp!

To create my project, I’ve stamped the Hardwood Background stamp in Sahara Sand Ink onto the Sahara Sand Cardstock. I’ve die cutting the center with my Lots of Labels Framelits and stamped my greeting on the reverse side of the cut out with One Big Meaning Stamp Set in Versamark ink and heat set with White Embossing Powder.

Next I’ve stamped my flower images from the Garden in Bloom Stamp Set onto scrap piece of Cardstock and cut out with paper snips.

I’ve finished my card by adding some Gold Thread and Gold Faceted Gems

Clean & Simple Thank You Card

Welcome to our Make a Card Monday Challenge #2.  You can learn about our Make a Card Monday feature HERE This week it’s a theme challenge “Thank You Card”

I’ve created a simple card, one that can be easily mass produced and with limited supplies.  I started by stamping my greeting from One Big Meaning Stamp Set with Tranquil Tide Classic Ink.

Added a 1″ strip of patterned paper across the bottom with the Delightful Daisy DSP, and finished my card of with some White Bakers Twine.

Make a Card Monday

Make a Card Monday

This new addition to the blog will happen in one of two ways

  • Every Monday we are going to take a card and make it over using all Stampin’ Up! product AND/ OR
  • We will use  a sketch, colour combination, or some other challenge to create a card

This allows you to see the versatility of Stampin’ Up! product and will maybe encourage you to look at the supplies in your stash in a new light. This is probably one of my favourite “features” because often times when my mojo feels low, I give it a boost by making over some of my favourite cards.

To kick off our First “Make a Card Monday” Challenge my team have created a sketch (see below)

How to Use a Sketch

Sketches are basically blueprints for your creativity. Sketches are made up of different shapes and elements and are basically an outline to follow.  The purpose of a sketch is to give you inspiration for the layout of your card design.

Daisy Delight, Rose wonder, Happy birthday

For my sketch today, I decided to use a piece of patterned paper for my background and this piece comes from the Delightful Daisy DSP.

My greeting is from the Rose Wonder stamp Set.  I love the font of the greetings in this set, and to finish it off I’ve added a bit of bling using Rhinestones.

Alternative Tips & Ideas

There are different ways you can interpret this sketch try one of the following suggestions

  • Emboss a piece of cardstock with your favourite embossing folder to add texture
  • Change the orientation of the sketch design and create a landscape card
  • Snip the ends of the greeting strip to create a banner
